Principal Mary Taylor shares what makes Foster a strong choice. (COMING SOON)
Recognized for Excellence
We are not just known locally. We're recognized nationally. We were honored as a 2025 NABSE Demonstration School, a national designation for campuses that serve as models in instruction, equity, leadership, culture, family engagement, and student achievement. We have also been recognized as a Texas School to Watch which reflects our campusโs achievement, culture, and student experience.
Gifted and Talented
Foster offers an exclusive application-based middle school Gifted and Talented program, designed for students ready for a more rigorous academic experience. Students are selected through criteria such as STAAR performance, attendance, and previous grades. Once in the program, they experience faster pacing, project-based learning, cross-curricular units, independent research, academic field trips, and required participation in extension opportunities like Model UN, UIL, TMSCA, and TSA.
A-Rated Growth for Every Student
Our academic story is not just about high performers. It is about moving every student forward. The campus uses data-driven scheduling, WIN Time, targeted support, enrichment, and โBand Jumpingโ celebrations to help students grow from where they start. Whether a student needs intervention, enrichment, or a confidence boost, Foster builds support into the school day.
Find Belonging with Ron Clarke Academy House System
Foster uses Ron Clarke Academy's house system gives every student a team, a place, and a reason to connect. Through house meetings, service learning, competitions, attendance incentives, leadership opportunities, and campuswide points, students build pride and relationships across grade levels and academic tracks. The result is a large middle school that still feels personal.
High School + College and Career Readiness
We help students begin thinking about college, careers, and high school pathways before eighth grade. Through Naviance, students explore interests and career possibilities beginning in sixth grade. Foster also offers high school credit opportunities such as Principles of Law, Principles of Agriculture, Project Lead the Way, and Spanish, helping students create more flexibility for advanced opportunities in high school.
Fine Arts and Student Experience
Foster students have room to discover who they are. With band, choir, orchestra, theater arts, UIL, Model UN, TMSCA, TSA, gaming, chess, field trips, Dragon Fair, clubs, and leadership opportunities, students can find their strengths beyond the classroom. Fosterโs size makes more programs possible, while its culture helps students find their place.
IBยฉ and Global Learning
As part of Longview ISDโs IB pathway, we use the Middle Years Programme framework to help students think globally, ask stronger questions, and connect learning to real-world issues. Students participate in inquiry-based learning, service projects, and the IB Expo, where they showcase research, culture, performance, and projects connected to what they have learned.
